There are certainly millions of business ideas out there. Ideas range from hiring a team from a freelance website to build a hit mobile app. To downloading any one of the apps like Lyft, Uber, or Postmates. To buying a pick-up truck and knocking on doors to get rid of people’s garbage.
But those usually take a day or two since Lyft and Uber still require approval, albeit very weak approval. My goal is to share with you some proven income streams you can build right now.
But be warned, this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. This is an opportunity to have an alternative business that you can start to grow into something bigger. Overnight, you may be able to make a couple dollars if you’re good. But as you start to improve your methods, you’ll be able to quickly improve that income. These are income streams that grow and improve your tactics.
But one thing I can tell you is that these are income streams you can start working on right now. Plus you will start to build skills and learn more about the internet and its’ many opportunities much quicker than your peers.
Let’s establish an important point first though…
Income
Let’s keep this simple and say income is the money you have coming in. There is income you earn from your job, and the work you do. And there is income that might come from a business or something you set up, that generates income, for example a website. Such as someone who owns a franchise but doesn’t actively do much with the day to day operations.
We won’t get too in depth about “portfolio income vs passive income vs active income.” Let’s just call it what it is, income. And they come from different sources.
For this article, you’ll learn 5 income streams that you can get started right now. They can potentially earn you a few bucks over night depending on your prior skills and knowledge. And they can turn into ongoing income depending on which route you choose.
I’ll also give some extra details and specifics on how to apply these methods you probably won’t find anywhere else.
Market Popular Products Without Leaving Your Couch
Your ability to succeed in this idea will depend on your ability to know what people want to buy and how to find those people who want to buy it. The simple answer to that challenge that requires no startup cost is social media.
You can sell just about any major brand or product online, and you’re about to learn how.
First, decide what products you want to sell. Here are a few brainstorming questions:
· What do you buy for hobbies?
· What luxury items do you like that there are Facebook groups for?
· What is a popular trending product right now?
Those are just a couple, but it only takes a minute to do this. And then here’s our second step.
Amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart and many other companies have what’s called an Affiliate Marketing program (this is NOT the same thing as a Multi-Level Marketing program). The big companies are the most reliable and trustworthy. They are easy to get started on too. They also have a lot of support and product choices.
Look up the product choices you came up with. Then pick one of those companies you want to work with and see if they sell the product. You can then sign up for their program. It should be easy to find the sign-up option. All you need to do is type in “company name affiliate program.”
From there, here’s the strategy. You don’t need to build a website or start a blog. You just need to find the link provided to sell the product, and go forth and share them with people who might be asking about said product.
This is incredibly easy to do. For example, if you want to sell a computer gaming mouse. Follow those steps above. Then look through the different social media platforms for anyone asking “can anyone recommend a computer gaming mouse?” You’ve found your customer and put the product in front of them.
Now every program has their rules, and I suggest you look into those rules to make sure you don’t violate them.

Love to talk? Have lot’s of ideas? Need to get your message out to the world? Advertisers love that. You don’t need to get on the radio. You don’t need to launch and host a webinar. You don’t even need to leave your office. You only need a standard mobile device that records audio.
Before we go further let’s understand what a podcast is. A podcast is simply an audio recording (it can be visual too, but the audio part is key). It is often an interview of some sort, or even a rant, or discussion.
This is similar to what we listen to on the radio. What we are listening to with a radio is a live or pre-recorded broadcast.
With every podcast, you need a place to upload the recorded audio file. That’s where you need to find a host. There are tons of hosts out there that would love to host your ideas. The host is much like a radio station. Except you don’t need to pitch your own podcast to yourself. While with a radio station, you may need to pitch your show idea to them.
Finally, once you’ve found a host, you upload your audio file or podcast episode. And then from there, the host usually provides you with a system to distribute the podcast to all of the major platforms out there like iTunes, Google, Spotify, and more.
So in summary, a podcast is an audio recording. The audio recording is uploaded to a host which stores and keeps a running list of your episodes. You can then share and distribute your episodes to all the various platforms.
Now here’s where the money comes. Most big hosts will give you an opportunity to include ads on your podcast episode. And those ads are when people hear those ads, you get paid. And if you come up with a clever enough episode, or have a big list of friends just waiting to hear from you… And they listen to it… Well, you just build up from there.
Power of the Written Word
There are only about three ways you can make money overnight with writing, and I’ll share them all with you right now. Ads simply won’t work because ads require approval on your website plus content, and that usually takes a day or two assuming the quality of your work is good. So get started today, and you can work toward that.
The first one I’ll share is the toughest because it requires the most combination of skills. You have to build a website and make it a blog. If you’re good you can start up a simple website in less than two hours with a logo and everything. From there, because we aren’t benefitting from ads, you will need to use the power of marketing popular products.
So, you will have to go back to our earlier section about finding popular products to find it. And your goal is to build a website around it with a bunch of articles. Altogether, you can pump out a decent website and 5–10 decent articles over the course of 5–10 hours.
Then all you need to do is start sharing the website or the content with people.
This is even better if you already have articles saved!
This second idea is a bit less reliable because you have to depend on someone to approve you. But the rewards can be bigger. Basically, if you really want to leverage the power of writing to make an income, you need to find the right blogs to submit to. If they expect you to write for free, then obviously you won’t make anything. And if they expect you to write for free and won’t let you include a link to anything you own that can generate an income, that’s a decision you have to make. You’ll have to decide whether the potential publicity is worth it.
But quickly stated, the second idea is to either pitch your articles to other blogs, or get approval to write for other blogs if you can. I almost left this out because it doesn’t live up to the promise of this articles title, but you never know how quickly people will respond. Oh yeah, and did I mention you can try our first tactic by sharing them on blog comments too? But again, be sure to look at the rules.
Finally, you’ve got a platform like Medium where you can apply for the partner program. By becoming a part of Medium’s partner program, you can start writing for them and start making money very quickly! But most writers will tell you that writing for the internet is not an easy task. It will require work to make enough to live off of.
But this is what you need to do if you want to build an alternative income stream. And the great part about writing for the internet is you can recycle ideas. Big corporations do this all the time. Think about how you read an article and find out it was from two or three years ago! What goes on the internet will be around for a while. And if the quantity and quality of what you do is high, backed by the right tactics, you’ll find success over time.
